Editing a shift.
Shifts are bars on a grid. Every bar responds to three gestures.
Move the whole shift
Click and hold the middle of the bar, drag it left or right to change the time, or up and down to assign it to a different employee. Release. Saved.
If you drag onto a row where the new employee is already busy, the bar lights up red and won't save until you move it.
Resize the start or end
The bar has thin handles on its left and right edges. Grab the left edge and drag to change the start time. Grab the right edge and drag to change the end. Snaps to 15-minute increments.
If you need a wildly different time, it's faster to delete the bar and redraw it.
Open the edit drawer
Double-click any bar (or right-click on desktop). A drawer slides in with more options:
- Notes — leave a note on this specific shift ("opening shift, double-check the bar inventory").
- Swap — replace this person with someone else (Lesson 09).
- Cancel — mark the shift cancelled (the employee gets a WhatsApp letting them know).
- Recur — turn this into a repeating shift (Lesson 09).
- Delete — remove it. Different from cancel: cancel keeps a record, delete erases it.
Undo
Every edit is logged. If you make a mistake, look for the small undo arrow at the top of the Shifts tab — it'll roll back the last change.
That covers 99% of shift edits. For the last 1% (weird patterns, mass changes), use the edit drawer's more options menu.
Try it now
Find a shift you already created. Drag its right edge to make it 30 minutes longer. Then drag the whole bar onto a different employee. Then undo both changes.
